Studies of atomic diffusion in Ni-Pt solid solution by x-ray photon correlation spectroscopy
This is our second published investigation of atomic dynamics using XPCS on crystalline samples after the study of
Cu-Au. Here we sought to determine to amount of information that can be obtained from polycrystalline samples. We show that the determined diffusion constants agree well with single-crystalline data taken with XPCS, both being orders of magnitude smaller than what is comfortably reachable by tracer techniques.
